It must be within the past two years or so that looting became such a big deal. In my day if you only had half your gear looted you were happy. These days I have seen a hero villager (among countless others) bitch and moan because they lost one ring even when everything else was left. It's the nature of the game, if you die expect to lose equipment. On a side note, I do think it is lame to take things you don't need...in most cases.
