  The dark swirling harbor waters surge back and forth here beneath
the massive pier that looms above you, the heavy wooden pilings rising 
from the water like an orderly moss-covered forest.  All around you 
the dark shapes of the anchored ships loom up from the frothing waters.
To the west, jutting rocks prevent you from heading further beneath
the pier.
