Tried another shaman after Soviatos, but just couldn't get into it.... I picked the mute flaw thinking it'd be a cool twist on an idea I had.
***DO NOT PICK THE MUTE FLAW***
Seriously, don't. It's that bad. No healers, no trothon, etc but the worst of it? You can't talk! I know it sounds obvious but do you have any idea how BORING the game is if you can't talk? I couldn't ask others to group, I couldn't banter with enemies, I couldn't explain why I just murdered some guy, I couldn't talk my way out of a warrant, I couldn't try to find out where someone was or if they were an enemy or lie or anything! I'll bet 99% of people I ran into or killed thought I was a complete asshole. I've got a pretty hilarious log of fighting the Eye of the Scarab multiple times where I'm trying to emote "STOP KILLING ME, WE"RE COOL" while he's trying his hardest to kill me. I had to eventually attack his cabal guardian and hand him a nice piece of gear to get him to stop and think for a second. The entire game is a RP game and not having the ability to talk is crippling and makes it a solo game. Maybe someone else will pull it off but not me.
Lyristeon was cool, and since I played during the 100 player night I had some crazy rewards and easy interactions - full empowerment at level 1 and at level 38 had like 4k immexp and both paths (breaker+demon... and yeah that combo is the one I said earlier is insane). I think I went like 40-4 and took a few deaths in the end as I suicided on a group (damn axe specs!). If I had the desire to keep it going it'd be a pretty scary character but I just couldn't get the desire to login anymore.
Oh and seriously, if you play a shaman nowadays... dark-elf or imperial is the only sane option. The mana costs are huge on a lot of abilities and you now have 10+ more than before. I did go warpriest heavy and it was cool seeing the emote of "with your armor you shrug off the stun from a cranial" every once in awhile, but not worth losing the mana regen, commune level, and evade.
Anyways, experiment done - don't pick the mute flaw.
