To begin with, there's way never to get in this situation that could be avoided from the very start of your role.
For instance, not joining a guild and joining the cabal at the same time. "He who serves two masters loves neither etc."
I don't know why this isn't a rule in the thief guilds because there are plenty of ways the ideologies conflict, this is one of them and it's a cop-out to say it's an RP opportunity even on the imms part.
The reason you didn't get booted was luck. You, again, toeing the line of RP, in this case imposing your beliefs on your business partners around you and getting away with it. Do you know how fast you would have been anathema'd just simply so the emperor wouldn't have to put up with your shit if the guild was Empire regardless of the given topic?
There's been plenty of instances you've been kicked in the balls for this exact behavior and you haven't seemed to learn your lesson. (align changed gnomes, accidentally attacking people in town with your flyto, boring druids etc.)
Silquas was a lamer who couldn't log in and didn't want to relinquish his position, I'll give you that. He also didn't know the thief guild isn't Empire and obviously has played an emperor or Trib in the past given his threats to you and Maxwell. I'll give you that to.
But he probably felt similar to how I did when he made those threats, and frankly the really lame part about all of this is you going "LOL, this is viable/awesome/interesting RP and you fuckers are all just jealous." If you'd keep your trap shut even if you refuse not to do this childish authority rebellion shit for your 'passionate beliefs' in your RP you wouldn't get mocked or your face kicked in the dirt in-game and out of game for it. It comes off as you intentionally trying to infuriate people and then go "Fuck you, I got off scot free and this is legit." or if you do get busted you try to salvage it instead of saying "I was wrong and will stop trying to blur these lines in the future" you go "Fuck you all, this was legit awesome RP with depth and you all are too stupid to know that because I'm going to act like Graatch now."
It's the same thing as Graatch playing his 'perfect' characters but then going out of his way to cram his RP down everyone else's throats including the Imms with his bitchy passive-aggressive lawyer behavior. If you don't see the parallel, no one is going to enjoy RPing with you on any level where you'll actually feel satisfied with a character when you're done. There is just no reason for you to assume that people are jealous of you or inferior to you when it really just boils down to what it seems like is you acting out like some kind of child to toe these RP lines and see what you can get away with calling it 'breaking out of the mould'
If you're going to do it, just for god sakes be a touch more 'contrite' about it in character if possible, or acknowledge that there are some instances where this isn't 'clever' that people didn't watch their backs better. It's the same thing with you mocking newbies about cloud giant bash specs when they don't *have* the reflexes yet to type flee;c tele
