Dagar : Some ramblings

March 29, 2008 03:50AM
I had autumn harvest. It worked very well even against medium sized warriors. Against large sized foes (shifters and giants) it was a runaway success. It can only work so much more well with potions.

I took an experimental legacy whirlwind of steel. With only 20 dex and a sub-optimal second spec with regards to dex malediction it worked just above average. I have some ideas about better using this legacy if I play again.

To everyone, it was good fun.

I am not satisfied with the direction the game is taking in this age of instantaneous entertainment.
Earlier we had posts of bards complaining of bashing giants. Now we have got the reverse. The pendulum has swung way too much in the other direction in my humble opinion. The dex changes need some toning down. The edge system is flawed and is beginning to replace skills. I see edges working every round without even the primary skill needed to get them working in the first place used. Role additions to get that next awesome edge which allows me to dispel;curse;pwk;quicksand;deliver blows of deadly force all without a command are beginning to get me down. There is a lot less of the roll and run which was CF, without any appreciable increase in the rp on the ground. Elves are the new terror. I counted 9 dagger specs in the 13 warriors I interacted with on a regular basis. Bloodthirsting villagers, the epitome of village terror are fit only to kill centurions now. I do not see any change in the deathliness of mages who have acess to abs (which any veteran has) by the downgrading of the timer and healing ability. Haste is all prevalent. I do not see where villagers would be overpowered with their old code because 2-3 players who had access to haste and used it regularly with their awesome scion warriors no longer have it via preps. These players laughed and got themselves strange bracers. Then there are arcanes and bond.

On the positive side, we have some very nice new imms. The game is more newbie friendly now than ever before. There is an appreciable reduction in in-game assholery. There are all sorts of things going on to make the game more exciting to wake upto each morning.

CF is something which never leaves us. All of us have read countless "I am quitting" posts and smiled knowingly. I quit for 2-3 years and I think this is the end of my second 3 year run. I am going away for the near future (unless one of you talks me into that next "cool" role :) ) to concentrate on college and sports. I hope I won't be on the ground rolling a new char tommorow, I hope I will return in a couple years time. Good luck, health and cheers to the great people I am friends with and to the CF community with everything you do. I will drop by from time to time to vote and flame :)

I'm glad to see the reduced healing through protections

It's SOOOOO annoying though. ~

I don't see that as a bad thing

daurwyn(VIP) 423 April 01, 2008 05:07AM

umm assassins/thieves/dexy warriors are still axe meat

pintose 508 April 04, 2008 05:55AM

No. Dodge trumps axe regular hits, so bash won't win you the fight. Hence you need pincer

Drokk 394 April 07, 2008 09:31AM

I think it depends entirely on if the axe dude's pincers hit or not.

Dunno. A thief trying to blackjack or an assassin going for the assassinate face zero risk against axe specs now (equal player skill, etc). nt

Drokk 432 March 31, 2008 01:06PM

Yah... because you always outmelee the axes and survive?

So in other words, reducing would have kept you safe

Enhanced reactions does bridge the gap for that situation n/t

Kamuela 366 March 31, 2008 04:26PM

You mean we don't have to pay? nt

BattleCharmed 393 March 30, 2008 12:24PM

The above mimics my experience. nt

Drokk 451 March 30, 2008 09:34AM

Exactly right, particularly that middle paragraph. n/t

alansmithee 419 March 30, 2008 08:46AM

I agree with some...

darkpriest 537 March 29, 2008 10:04PM

You got arrested because of CF???

BattleCharmed 512 March 29, 2008 10:31PM

That's because pincering people in the street is illegal. nt

DurNominator(VIP) 418 March 30, 2008 09:29PM

I thought if you had your 'Eastern Road' bumper sticker it was ok. nt

BattleCharmed 414 March 31, 2008 02:39PM

My gf bought me the plate cover nt

Rogue 426 April 02, 2008 11:08AM

He said -not- because of CF. ~

_Magus_ 433 March 29, 2008 11:23PM

I was joking. nt

BattleCharmed 377 March 29, 2008 11:42PM

I would have to agree to some extent with your ramblings...

baekthestorm 521 March 29, 2008 03:44PM

I'm not a prep-whore... nt
