Software Recommendations

Switching from a salary to an hourly consultant fee.

Looking for an application or suite of applications to help track hours, projects, and I guess general time management. Trying to kill a few birds with one stone if possible. I've googled around a bit and not finding anything that quite meets my needs. Some features I'm thinking would be nice:

* Instant messaging when I'm "on the clock"

* Project management: Basically a to-do list is fine. The ability to add subtasks would be nice, as well as commenting from the team. In terms of fucntionality, this would be more to assist my failing memory than report what has been done. Double points if it will auto fill each day with daily tasks to check off.

* Some sort of clock-in/clock-out function

* Anything else I'm too stupid to think of

I've known a few people that work from home for corporate offices and by the way they talked about their job, it sounds like there is some software in place to monitor them and communicate with them. I'd like something similar, but self-monitoring.
