To your point-- I'm not arguing the legal opposition to the party or president from within the government itself. I should have specified "members" includes the population at large. Try to take a more open approach to what I'm saying, and bear with me-- I'm aware that you are much more in tune with the legal workings but that isn't what I'm referring to.
To add-- in my mind there's nothing new or paradigm shifting about the losing party putting up opposition to whatever the sitting president is trying to do. It's actually a good thing. Even what is going on now with the roadblocks congress and judicial is putting up I would argue is not a bad thing overall. But again, this is all part and parcel of the bipartisan machine.
What I'm referring to is the massive public outcry of "#NotMyPresident" and generating fake scandals to try and oust the sitting president. Culturally, there is a tremendous force which is perfectly willing to undermine the institution itself to get this guy out of office. It started with the attempt to tip electoral votes, on through trying to get congress to overturn the election results, through the riots and protests, to the current media campaign and Russian controversy. It's not really something I've seen. After Obama was elected, you cannot say it was like this in terms of public outcry and disdain for process, I'm sure.
