I want to do an exercise, where I reverse the words:
"there are some fringe conservative morons, no doubt, and they can be dangerous, but democratic cronyism and corporate whoring has been awful awful awful. tack on their inability to govern for the people and you wind up with the worst. party (generation). ever."
I mean, I've heard this almost word for word from right-wingers.
I guess our brains just have a difficult time aggregating and explaining the overwhelming data inundating us from the echo chamber which we are inevitably drawn towards (sometimes we are actively seeking it, sometimes it is passively presented to us via google/facebook/etc algorithms telling us what we want to hear). When we are faced with opposing arguments (which have themselves been presented via feedback loops and echo chambers and come at us with all the ferocity that of our own), we cannot easily use our own beliefs to refute it; it simply doesn't work, because neither of our beliefs really paints an accurate view of the world. There is some missing piece in there preventing us from bridging a meaningful argument. So we resort to hyperbole and the whole process proceeds to divide us further into our echo chambers. It feels good to go back there and confirm to yourself how right you are, and how misled the other side is. I know, I catch myself feeling this as well. It's inevitable.
I'm telling you that both parties are the same (or very similar) in their cronyism and corporate whoring. Both parties are woefully inept at governing the people. Left news is corrupt and untruthful and biased. Right-wing news is corrupt and untruthful and biased. And there's a whole slew of reasons this is so that has nothing to do with right vs. left.
Edit: I don't mean this as specifically directed at you, just take it as my general rantings and observations.
