Medicare. Medicaid. State pensions. There is a significant portion of the US budget dedicated to maintaining a state sponsored Ponzi scheme (state pensions/social security) and taxes are being hiked by public administrators who are all in their 60-80s to keep their entitlements going.
There is also interest expenditures on existing debt that the govt. has borrowed which are ballooning (but nowhere near the budgetary items for social security/medicare/medicaid).
There is also their their military budget.
Those four items comprise the lion's share of govt. expenditure. And it's even worse in Europe - which is just about what you'd expect, because the median age of the population in the US is about 39 last I checked. In W. Europe it's over 40 years of age more or less across the board, and in Germany it's between 46 and 47 (comparable with Japan.)

It's not a corporate myth when Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid alone account for approx 41% of the federal budget in 2010. The population has aged since then and these three items rise exponentially with age. So yes, you have a state which is mandating a shift of wealth and income from the young, towards the old, and people wonder why no one is having kids.
