I'm all for zero cheats, assists, etc. I've played on a server with a mate (just the two of us) and we managed to make some pretty impressive structures without assistance. Mobs become pretty much null once you wall the area you want to build and light it all up. Hardest part is initially hunting for diamond, unless you're content to use stone picks all day.
