You actually have to active for a "fast metabolism" to do anything.

Anyone who's skinny and claims its because they have a fast metabolism is talking bullshit. Its because they don't enough as much as the fat guy.

It's simple maths at the end of the day, if you use less energy than you intake, its going to be stored in the body somewhere. I mean your metabolism is just keeping your body warm and maintaining cells, its not as though the skinny guys are running 10 degrees hotter than everyone else.

If you're doing heavy weights and your body is in a constant state of repair, then yes, increasing your metabolism speed will be beneficial, but since when does digesting energy faster = less energy taken in.

Does eating lots of small meals speed up your metabolism?

Matrik August 05, 2011 06:20AM

I have trained extensively in understanding the behavior of people, specifically customers.

paulstrack August 05, 2011 06:40AM

Where did I say that?

Death_Claw August 07, 2011 05:29PM

I know you agree with me.

Matrik August 07, 2011 05:42PM

It's called consensus? Your post prompted my post.

paulstrack August 05, 2011 08:31AM

I see.

Matrik August 05, 2011 08:38AM

Uh, you sure about that?

vortexmagus August 03, 2011 08:09AM

That is incorrect.

ilostmycoconut August 03, 2011 04:16PM

That's what "lower the bar" dieticians would like you to believe

(vಠ_ಠ)> AngryFatKid August 03, 2011 01:33PM

While this makes excellent sense, I have yet to see anything really supporting it.

Matrik August 03, 2011 06:14AM

There is a LOT supporting you, your looking at things from only one angle.

ilostmycoconut August 03, 2011 04:14PM

This doesn't change anything.

Matrik August 04, 2011 06:12AM

The biggest factor isn't physiology, it's psychology

Rade August 04, 2011 06:38AM

I'd think its the opposite.

Matrik August 04, 2011 07:10AM

Both ends of the spectrum are bad

Kez August 02, 2011 09:35PM

First thing to understand, Metabolism doesn't just mean speed of digestion. But fat is metabolized into Energy for cells to use and many other things (n/t)

ilostmycoconut August 03, 2011 03:57AM

Lol so wrong.

Flipside Oreo August 02, 2011 11:49PM

I'm not sure you realize how much stuff fat people eat

PaulO August 03, 2011 07:03AM

Still it's a big variation between individuals

Flipside Oreo August 03, 2011 08:04AM

It's not that big of a variation unless you have a medical condition

PaulO August 03, 2011 08:45AM

You can't just assume the reverse holds true. That's a weak and over simplified argument.

Death_Claw August 07, 2011 05:42PM

And out of curiousity...

Death_Claw August 07, 2011 05:54PM

My girlfriend refuses to let me put her picture on the internet, but she eats like a glutton and is rail-skinny.

Re: My girlfriend refuses to let me put her picture on the internet, but she eats like a glutton and is rail-skinny.

PaulO August 03, 2011 08:29AM

I think you are playing it up a bit, but even if your not:

Matrik August 03, 2011 07:49AM

Dude, I lost 20 lbs last year by just cutting out soda (coca-cola, pepsi, etc) and fast food.

Sam August 03, 2011 08:23AM

Yuh, fast food and especially soda/pop/coke are killers.

Matrik August 03, 2011 08:26AM

A lot of fat people I've seen really DON'T eat that much but drink enough soda to tack on another 500 calories on top of what's necessary to maintain their weight.

Starscream August 04, 2011 06:49AM

Fatness.

Death_Claw August 07, 2011 05:48PM

Why does your drink need to have sweeteners?

DurNominator(VIP) August 04, 2011 07:10AM

It doesn't, not the point.

Starscream August 04, 2011 07:31AM

Yeah, drinking 8 glasses of juice or milk a day will make you just as fat if not fatter than soda.

Death_Claw August 07, 2011 05:49PM

I agree with this post. NT

Sam August 06, 2011 11:15AM

Matrik August 04, 2011 07:19AM

wrathpuppet August 03, 2011 08:11AM

Regular, consistent exercise does a lot

PaulO August 03, 2011 08:38AM

Activity is a big factor of course.

fatasses don't eat "small meals" (n/t)

Fatasses eat lucky stars. NT

Batman August 03, 2011 12:43AM

Er, what?

PaulO August 02, 2011 07:55PM

Naw, I was just hinting that the observation may be skewed by the fact that folks who are very overweight probably won't be eating "small meals", regardless of frequency.

Jib August 02, 2011 08:40PM
