I've got a copy of riftshadow, with a few changes, that I'm going to try to keep up - it's more or less stable now. The biggest changes:

outfit works forever, and gives a mediocre, but passable, set.
recall works until level 50.

xp rates are multiplied by 10.

parry is greatly boosted v. mobs

so, you can basically hero up in a few sessions, without a tank. It's a quirky little game, but kind of a refreshing change, imho, from the Fields. There's hardly been any gear loaded for mortal chars, so the playing field is pretty level. I'm going to try to write up some bots, for fodder, and I'd like to invite anyone else to do the same.
