The heart of our disagreement.

Point of contention #1
You think the name-theory-mechanic is quest information.

I don't understand how it could be interpreted this way.

Point of contention #2
You are moderating a public wiki. I applaud you for doing it, and I think you're doing a good job of it.

However,

I think you're over-moderating, and not being very subtle about letting your personal drama with me get in the way of responsible editting. You've editted every single contribution I've made, from the mundane to the extraordinary. From hacking my work up and spreading it all over to citing yourself on pages I initiated.

What's at stake.
The wiki itself. There's been a flurry of wiki activity since I started writing down pertinant & interesting information about conjurers on the wiki. Someone took up some of the format I initiated and used it to describe shapeshifters. It even looks like people are rolling more conjurers. The interest in the wiki, in the game and in the class is what we want. So, I think I'm doing something positive.

Censoring my tid-bits on how to get the familiar you want, sure. That's a discussion. Obviously we're on different sides of the fence, but I don't like seeing you muck with content on your own initiative. If people (not just you) agree that it's questy information, then I've no qualms about it being removed.

Ripping up my conjurer pages and removing demon tactics from pages about demons? What in the hell were you thinking? For the first time in wiki history you're dictating exactly what format and style information is to be presented, and you're mucking around in other people's content. How dare you. A wiki is a public entity. You have to respect the work of other people, and leave it alone. If you push any sort of "god" complex down peoples throats, they will refuse to contribute.

I think we all agree that if people refuse to contribute, the wiki suffers. I'm just asking for some etiquette.

If imms wanted you to be able to choose your familiar there would be a command to do so. n/t

Death_Claw January 03, 2008 09:18AM

Isn't there? -nt-

infi January 03, 2008 10:26AM

No. n/t

infi January 03, 2008 11:21AM

Why have it some weird hash function based on char's name as opposed to simply making it random? nt

infi January 03, 2008 11:21AM

That's a good question.

Death_Claw January 03, 2008 12:29PM

You seem to be speaking like I 'consistantly' censor pages. I censored Infi, DC. That's it. nt

Yhorian January 03, 2008 03:25PM

I couldn't find the posts via search...

Scrimbul January 03, 2008 07:30AM

That's why its a Wiki. So just edit it.

Death_Claw January 03, 2008 01:24PM

Not even worth responding to. -nt-

infi January 03, 2008 08:51AM

I could personally care less, but...

Jib January 02, 2008 06:13PM

IMO, a reactive change to the schedule of familiars only becomes a problem if people get pissy about it

ExPaladin(VIP) January 03, 2008 03:03AM

I often wonder if its deterministic nature isn't meant to be exploitable...

Death_Claw January 03, 2008 09:21AM

Is it REALLY, verifiably based on a character's name? Can someone explain how that method possibly makes sense? n/t

Re: Is it REALLY, verifiably based on a character's name? Can someone explain how that method possibly makes sense? n/t

Death_Claw January 04, 2008 03:34AM

Verification.

infi January 05, 2008 05:31AM

I've questioned this as well, and I think it should very likely be changed. nt

Yhorian January 03, 2008 11:37AM

Contradicting yourself often?

Yhorian(VIP) January 02, 2008 06:11PM

My 2 cents (not that anyone asked or cares) and some explanation.

Death_Claw January 03, 2008 12:40PM

When did I not do that exactly?

Yhorian January 03, 2008 03:31PM

Bash is a skill which can perma-lag you.

infi January 02, 2008 06:25PM

Personally I think that newbies would benefit from not having such knowledge at first

daurwyn(VIP) January 03, 2008 08:04AM

Because moderators aren't meant to do that? Are you on crack or something?

Yhorian(VIP) January 03, 2008 05:12AM

Why are you such a control freak?

Death_Claw January 03, 2008 11:13AM

Hi, I'm DC. And I like to be melodramatic. Name one other thing I censored on the Wiki.

Yhorian January 03, 2008 03:16PM

Re: Hi, I'm DC. And I like to be melodramatic. Name one other thing I censored on the Wiki.

Death_Claw January 04, 2008 05:12AM

Read this.

infi January 03, 2008 11:27AM

I actually wrote the latter part of that description. So who am I censoring exactly?

Yhorian January 03, 2008 03:23PM

In fact, looking at the revisions, you only wrote all the Challegha tactics. The others were Torak and I. nt

Yhorian January 03, 2008 03:42PM

I would put that kind of descriptions to demons page since we have those. nt

DurNominator January 03, 2008 01:04PM

How about let the author decide where it goes?

infi January 03, 2008 01:17PM

It's a Wiki, so other people can re-arrange it.

DurNominator January 03, 2008 01:24PM

Re: It's a Wiki, so other people can re-arrange it.

Death_Claw January 03, 2008 01:27PM

Give one good reason why the Wiki should be an undirected ground for rants and misinformation. nt

Yhorian January 03, 2008 03:34PM

The heart of our disagreement.

infi January 03, 2008 09:07AM

And in disagreeing with the moderator, you've failed to persuade anyone else you're right. nt

Yhorian January 03, 2008 09:19AM

Misinfo.

infi January 03, 2008 10:28AM

Find someone who supports your hairbrained argument. Then call it misinfo. Not the other way around. nt

Yhorian January 03, 2008 10:47AM
