There is a distinct trade off when you play a powerhouse. If people cannot kill you alone, do you expect them to keep hurling themselves at you? Would you, for example, -not- run away from Swordbash or Angelguy if all your wands were down and both of them had ways (eyes or angel) of surviving the classic sleep tactic? More pertinent would be the issue of you calling Ilirenen out on being a ganging pussy on officials.

Trust me, a transmuter with wands (Ilirenen) will not need to gang you. He only needs to catch you when you are willing to fight. If you don't teleport/flee/whatever, you will die. From what I've heard over Fort channel, plenty of people were willing to fight you alone. Not one has EVER said: My brethren, I am about to fight Venecfis. Cry to me when I say 'Now.'. Or let us meet up near the dock at Ysigrath and then go in together. Nobody's ever said that that I have heard. What they WILL say, is 'Venecfis in Ysigrath'. I remember in the midranges I've tried to run you down plenty, before your (admittedly very clever) sleep/vault kill on me.

Because you know how to play the game, and you won't fight a losing battle. Now there is nothing wrong with doing that. You are a cautious player, and you've done really well (much better than I possibly could with an AP) in picking off the weak and avoiding those who can kill you. That is exactly how an AP should play. You won't get a weapon without doing that. I have nothing against you running from people who have -some- chance of killing you, because an AP -has- to do that. Admittedly while in the midranges and while I still had a super-set and I had you in the pk range, I probably wasted a lot of time just scouring the whole MUD for you because you were the one person who just wouldn't be found, wouldn't be engaged in a straight fight. Did I call you a pussy? I don't think I ever did, not even IC. You had balls to play against such uneven odds. Respect.

But when you become difficult to pin down and kill, the balance of the game shifts. Trust me when I say most of my range will not fight me alone. I've had to invent all sorts of ludicrous baits, some as distasteful as simple taunting and some as dangerous as inviting people to 3v1s and just sitting there letting them group up and discuss strategy. There are some enemies you simply will not engage alone. Maybe you can think of clever tricks to take them down (like you did me, I am still slapping myself for being stupid enough to allow repeated sleep attempts). The game now is to pin Venecfis down, and make sure he dies. Not hurl yourself at Venecfis and feed his (its?) weapon.

I will say this, I was very impressed with your character. You did a great job of evading all the people who would be able to kill you under some circumstances (even aside from Swordbash and Angelguy) and killing those you can kill. Your range was nasty. It was horrible. If any ganger full looted you aside from sacrificing your weapon and taking the shiniest bits, I will agree that they are in the wrong. On to the whole ganging bit...

You are very skilled. But this game has its rules and its mechanics. You'll have to expect that people will come up with the nastiest situations for you to die to (I've had a few nasty deaths myself, most ending in major looting even of unnecessary things). Let's say for example, a binder thief suiciding and killing you with a deathtrap when you have 300+ charges (like Ravon), and then having 5 people camp your pit to kill you repeatedly when you try to get your items from the pit. Sure, that sucks. But to have overblown the situation into this ridiculous flame-fest on dio's and your own deletion thread and calling people ganging pussies and all that, is just... not classy. Your frustration is understandable. Throwing abuse at everyone who tried to seriously destroy you (using any means necessary) is not needed.

I'd just like to end this on a positive note. I think you are a good player. Venecfis was deadly and from what I read here, had a good role. I think it will be nice for you to roll a new char and own more people. I do respect you as a player. I just wanted to point out that all those complaints and insulting are going to get nowhere.
