If you report it, multiple VIPs are going to check it out and make the deletion decision independently. The only "already taken care of" we can see is that some other VIP deleted it first. One refusing to take it down doesn't mean that someone else thinks the same way about it. A report means that someone thought that it should be deleted, meaning that there is a reason to look into it. Thus, the deletion treshold is slightly lower for reported posts than other posts, as a VIP will read it through with the deletion decision to make in mind.
