You need to retain newbies to get more vets. You just can't retain everyone on a game forever. The thing is, you kinda need both, newbies to try the game, newbies that stay, and vets that remain long in the game.

I'm not sure why you care about whether I stay dormant or not, but I probably won't be active enough to start banninating the countryside and banninating the peasants. If I don't roll a character, then I probably won't be around too often.

-Text based and no cool graphics - little appeal for new players
-Effort involved in creating a role for your character
-Matching times with cabal leaders as a bottleneck for getting into cabals (have they improved on this?)
-Long duration of individual playing sessions and high activity requirement in order to have fun and immersive experience. Stuff flies by you if you're too
Can't you just give your customers a what they can get out of your system kind of deal? The connection speed will make its own, natural limitation to bandwidth.
-VIPs are just forum mods. Seeing deleted posts does give us some info that gets hidden from others, but we don't have a heavy censorship here, so there isn't really that much to see.
-There is no hidden info in VIP board about wands or other game secrets. There is also no VIP info sharing ring. Sleeks don't work in the wand list way these days anyway.
