Sorry, but imperial defense - which according to Nep makes a bard dodge better than an arial warrior with the dance legacy - alone is better than the entire outlander skill set. For what I think should be apparent reasons. Imperial powers are way more versatile and usable, and imperials have none of the limitations that outlander bards do.
If you want, we can compare the PBF for your outland

Strengthen is nice. Chamo is great. Beastcall is great. Insects is great. Deadfall is nice. Ancient instincts is great. Shop limitations are livable. Bioempathy is great. Unfettered spirit is nice.
Not played an evil outlander so I can't comment on their powers.
Sorry, but I think imperial powers are better. And have none of the drawbacks. Can use coins. Can use
I'd fight a ranger any day of the week and twice on sunday in the wilderness. The only thing that would give me pause is if he had a bard friend to put me to sleep after the snare.
I've played a ranger enough that I'm just not scared of them. Sure, I die sometimes to rangers in the wilderness, but (1) I win more than I lose -- which means anyone else can do the same -- and (2)
On the other hand.. Hey, this guy ganking with Tochec sure looks familiar!

Basically, the gamers' POV is that everyone was engaging in PvP, but the professor was griefing/multi-killing certain newer players in a repop zone and teleporting them to an automated set of robot guards intended to keep heroes/villians out of a certain safe zone for the instakill. So he wouldn't get any credit/loot for the kill - the villian would just die and repop again in the repo

I'm not looking for something to run around and gank with. I'm talking about straight up one on one, Mano-E-Mano, PK. Basically what I'm getting is that his general guidlines are sound, simply his choice in class is being questioned correct?
Basically (obviously, this is all my opinion):
1. He's right, cloud giant rangers are deadly when they can (i) bearc
The character he's talking about had a 26-11 PK ratio, ganked a ton, and PK-wise was extremely one-dimensional (get a gank buddy and lag the victim).
You might want a character with some more versatility that will let you explore the class and decide if you want to specialize in a certain ranger strength. Human is a really good idea.

I've been thinking about leveling a ranger, and I was wondering if there were any tips some of the experienced players could give regarding leveling, including what classes to watch out fir, which classes would be easy PKs, and maybe a general idea of how to level it(meaning which weapons to shootfor and things of that nature).
1. Leveling - very easy after you get wilderne
Shaman v. rager on eastern road = you should be prepared to face the rager at the Destructor if you want to kill him.
Shaman v. rager with a decent amount of wilderness between the rager and the Battle cabal = you should really be killing that rager. I almost don't think it matters who the rager is - that should be a lock for the shaman.
It wasn't personal. I was trying to roleplay a character with a real drunken mean streak - but whose fighting style relied on being drunk. Of course, I failed miserably. Literally the only people that liked that character were Isildur and Lyristeon. :)
It's lame that some Fortress people are willing to overlook certain Outlanders that attack their friends. When I'm playing a Fort, I consciously try to provoke tension between members of the cabals when it's deserved.
But then it's also lame that some perma-Imperial players say that Fortress and Outlander go along hand in hand without any fighting between them.
Overall
He attacked my assasin out of nowhere, bearcharged me down. Then him, you, and some other Outlander looted most (all?) of my stuff.
THEN I started relentlessly attacking him on sight, getting bearcharged :P
Overall, I think that character died 6-10 times to neutral outlanders that attacked me first out of nowhere. Which I think is a lot for a goodie Fortress assassin. So yeah, I think peo
I also see that CF would be killed if everyone was too freaked out about getting full looted to take some risks. Imagine if everyone played like the liches and avoided any situations where they might die. Would the game be playable?
I just can't help thinking that rampant full looting/sacraficing will result in a lot of boring logins.
EDIT: Also, being stripped sucks. Yeah you can

Fort warriors (marans), on the other hand, get better stuff. Zeal + flight + protection from evil + searing light/programming weapons >> Nightwalker + nightfist.
So let's say that zeal and nightfist cancel each other out. That leaves:
1. Flight
2. Protection
3. Disarmlable and reasonably heavy avg 26 weapons
vs.
1. Nightwalker.
You wouldn't rather hav
