The point is that no corporation that now exists would want or need to incur the cost of a private army. But, if corporations were allowed to own nuclear weapons I imagine that corporations whose sole purpose is owning and brokering these weapons would spring up overnight. I would have thought that most Scandanavian countries would be better represented. Also, only Iran shows up from the Middle East? Does this take into consideration where the players are from originally, or just where they live now? For example, Sammy Farha is Lebanese, but as far as I know now lives in the US. I see that a Russian came in second in the WSOP in 2008. But that only two Russians have ever made the final table. Also, regarding why all poker players seem to win, and none seem to lose: Everybody is full of shit. This is a universal truth.by wrathpuppet - Main Board
And, obviously, poker will be more common across a cross section of any population than CF. If the reasons that have been given for Russian skill at CF are valid, it would stand to reason that (if these factors are indeed at work) that one could see them at play in the wider, more public world of poker. Wouldn't you expect to see the smartest, richest, most polylingual Russians repreby wrathpuppet - Main Board
If the reasons that have been given for the success of Russian players of CF holds true for the population as a whole, I'd expect to see more high-profile Russians doing well at poker tournaments. Granted, it's been a few years since I paid close attention to the game, but you see a lot of Americans, a lot of Scandinavians, a few Middle-Easterners, but only the occasional Russian.by wrathpuppet - Main Board

Quicksand is almost always an issue. It's not that rare for invokers to place quicksand traps. It is rare for the invoker to be capable of killing lots of Villagers with this tactic. Most invokers who get a Villager into quicksand are going to end up wording, which will often give the Villager time to escape. That said, there are two invokers running around right now that a Villager neby wrathpuppet - Main Board
