In my days of immortalness there were at least a couple imms of higher levels (55-57) who wanted to code and/or were willing to learn C but were not allowed to. While it may be recently changed with the departure of Zhulg, the permission to code stuff was a closely guarded privilege, probably to the detriment of the MUD.

If it were me, I'd go with whispers and bird edges and definitely swords. For another legacy I might consider soul, just so you have some extra HP in the mix. You could also consider enigma, because there are some useful offense wands and you'd be able to eat speckled pills or quaff returns in combat, which can be useful depending on where yo
