Don't some mud clients have an automatic mapper? Doesn't Zmud have something like that? Would it make sense for me to run into an area (I was going to do Consortium first) and get it automatically mapped and then extract that into a let's say notepad and then comment with mob locations / gear / etc.? Any advice would be appreciated.
Those maps are a phenomenal resource. I have not played CF much... without them... I would be in quite a bit of trouble. I'll see if I can re-work some maps and submit them to the VIPs.
What's the best way for me to go about updating such maps? The people who created them, did they use any sort of mapper program or is it just simple notepad ASCII stuff? I think many will benefit from my updates though to true vets, this is obviously not a big deal as they know these things by heart. BTW, I use simple gmud.
As a more a less new player to CF, the resource that I use the most is the DIKU-Wiki map. To be honest, if that could be kept up to date, that would be the biggest help for new players in my opinion. Perhaps updating some armor lists as well.
This obviously does not apply to area explores. Just my thoughts.
What are the advantages of making an elf healer over a half-elf healer?
Pros: auto-sneak, highest int in the game
Cons: horrible vuln, 3 (instead of 5) pracs per level, low con
Is there anything I'm missing? RP aside, it seems that a half-elf would be better.
Question: If eq is elf-only, can a half-elf use it?
What does that mean for felars? They obviously still get free claw attacks with two handed weapons, but what about sword / no offhand item? Any reason to play a felar assassin now?
So I am thinking of coming back and playing. My last character was a hero healer and I think I would like to do that again (for RP, exploration, survivability and a lot of other good reasons). With the playerbase being low (this is what I am reading at least), how hard will ranking up be? Are there any reasonably active Imms to empower nowadays?
So if I were to make a Nexus-bound ranger, any thoughts on what the most useful kit would be? Kit/terrain. The Island is surrounded by water, so a mariner may be helpful. Are all the rooms in the Nexus cabal civilized? Are you pretty much awful at defense then? I would imagine a Nexus ranger would have to be pretty good at fighting warriors? So perhaps what's the most antiwarrior kit?
Requirements. In the order of importance.
1. Non-empowerment
2. Welcome and thought after in groups
3. Not dependent on equipment
4. Opportunity to learn the lay of the land (notice, I did not exactly say "explore char")
My skillset in PK is: Great at escaping, bad at sealing kills.
Thoughts so far?
Mine are half-blood or gnome transmuter; gnome utlity/utility or
I did get empowered. But after the interview, it was pretty clear that I was pretty much doomed. I do understand Rayihn a lot better now though, thanks to all your responses. What I was trying to create is the framework in which the character would exist. And have actions speak louder than words within such framework. At the end of the day, it just didn't work. I did not think Rayihn h
"For example, you could see yourself as a channel that spreads Rayihn's love to Thera instead of having an intimate relationship with her. "
And this is what I tried to explain in the interview. Anyway, the problem that I had was "she really did not care for it in the beginning and pretty much shut it down". I would not necessarily mind that... but that's after
"No your role really isn't that great. But what a lame response. I wouldn't however expect to go very far with her unless she really liked your idea, otherwise she'll just blow you off. No matter what effort you put into it."
That's really how I felt. I am not as experienced at RPing as many of you are, but I did not think I had a bad character concept AT ALL!
This is helpful. I was sphere "Love" by the way. I suppose I need to take a different approach. I did think however that my concept of love was very different from it's typical understanding. I was hoping to find a Lich that could be loved with this character. You're right... I did not provide too much direction... but I wanted to keep it open ended. Anyway... I suppose
I make a new priest with what I think a great character idea. Write a two chapter well written role (which gets noticed by another immortal at level 4). Write a note to Rayihn asking for her audience. Find the temple. Do the prays. Do not just sit in the temple but level up to level 12, meet new people, RP with new people. Finally Rayihn logs on. I can see she is not in a good mood / hates
