I mean, we practically have to use the "expanded help" in the wiki, to know what the hell a specialization actually does, to demystify different edges, etc.
Several years ago someone up high had this edict that "numbers detract from roleplay" and they took out the stats numbers for any character below level 20 (thanks santa zulg for removing that stupid change!) and started
I've never been empowered (failed like 80 times) and can barely grasp the difference between a religion and a sphere - much less understand what the fuck an imm thinks you should think about his specific religion.
Just got my first mac last year - i could never go back! I'm rocking tinyfugue - very similary to tintin. (Just, to scroll up, hold function down while pressing up :)
There was some line I had to comment out in the source to get the damn thing to compile - i guess c compilers change somewhat over 7 years (the last release of tf was in 2007), but pm me if you want to try it out or have tro
Dude, just check how long the mud has been up with the uptime command. If a couple days, head to velkyn or wherever. Nobody bothers saccing that shit, fewer bother picking it up, except for other lowbies. If uptime is short, start checking shops and selling stuff, and save your steps to these places.
I think what's confusing is that at low ranks better ac causes opponent to miss instead of dam redux, so when we see 'misses' i guess we need to think "that's armor," instead of he's parrying everything
A few good points below to echo. If you are not new to mudding, just CF, assassins and rangers are fine and all but are really great solo classes. I'd echo TheJoker (Batman?) and go for a build that will have you in the mix with other characters to get the most fun from CF. I like svirf warriors because you can:
1. See invis inherently
2. Get 100% lore and go to town ID'ing stuff
3

1. What is that with the staff trying to disarm people?
2. How does the transmuter trip?
3. How is he following the bard at the beginning and the bard does not notice? Or was this just some chasing and bard not realize he's being followed?
I've been gone for awhile, I don't even know about the other site. As a general outsider, I like the principle of the site, but I think the official CF site itself needs to find a balance of embracing the community - letting them contribute and share info - and still retaining some element of discovery/reward that they clutch so tightly as a key part of CF. You see it everywhere, from t
Had a svirf explorer caverndweller, thought would go off in dungeons, etc., but not really. It did, and rebounding strike did, but only occasionally.
And this might have just been in my head, but my ambushes were not nearly as good outside of caves.
Back in the day I had some successful dark-elf thieves, like before the dex changes and thief revamp, but I've tried two in the past two years and was painful. Doesn't make sense, but back then thieves were overpowered, and fewer skills meant converting more trains into HP.
Not being able to steal away mithril weapons, for one, a big problem. I don't know if you can grease them
Now, i've never actually played an assassin (!), but I've played tons of thieves. I think thieves are a little easier to PK with and they are very fun, but assassin is going to stand toe to toe against tough mobs solo much easier.
1. Assassins get shield block (thieves do, but you lose other skills then)
2. Assassins get martial trance, which helps with defense I'm pretty sure

You could go binder up to drag, and trapper up to damage trap if you get the +10 thief points edge that's relatively easy to get if you save your points and wait til late. You'd have 8 points leftover, too.
But, you'd not have knife, scrolls, or cheap shot. Still could be fun. Especially bind legs + entangle traps. Would wield a claw to start with rip.
I did a build with knif
