I feel that once many folks get teleport as a class ability, they stop carrying them. If Marrion is a habitual mage layer, I can easily understand them neglecting git and forgetting they only have it as a commune, or forgot about worldbind.
Also, I think elves counter intuitively may be more hearty. Stormies will probably only average 2 to 4 hp more per lvl, and elves will make that up with trains. Also, with any communing class Mana = hp, so a bigger mana pool will make you last longer in a fight.
