Well I never seen any of the Imperials do it either (except Sivyh). For example, anytime I saw Jerrokrar fight, he was with someone else behind his back. Even when he could have easily won alone. So what? EDIT: oh wait, there is one log where he fights alone. Way to go! EDITEDIT: No, really, fairness of fight is sooo subjective. I'd rather not touch this discussion with a 6-foot poleby Murphy - Char Board
There was a week when I would log in every morning (I live in GMT+8) and see Gvantulak, Zasowski, Pandol and Jerrokrar. And it would last for hours with next to no Fort chars in sight (well, none that I knew of). All other times there are several Fort chars on and perhaps 1-2 of their enemies. I assume it's boring and un-fun both ways, for both sides. If I could stomach the RP, I'dby Murphy - Char Board
Now, where was that funny log about a gnome and the room for the looks... You know, where he looks at you and casts a magic?by Murphy - Main Board
No, no feedback. However, I plan to post them when the character dies, and comment on each. I try to read others' descriptions as well, and note things like eye color and complexion, these are useful to know because you can mention them in conversation later. Reread sometimes too. To be honest, I don't like many of the descriptions I've seen... and especially dislike when they aby Murphy - Main Board
Mind if I ask what do you enjoy in this game, if everything's so bad? There must be something you like, since you stick with the game for so long! I'm only playing CF for 2 months, but I'm by no means new to mudding. And I'll tell you the truth of all muds - interaction with other players is the key. If you don't genuinely enjoy discovering everything for yourself, jusby Murphy - Main Board
In the same mud I spoke of, many people said that they aren't interested in PK and that they don't care. Turns out, yeah, they eventually stopped caring because they couldn't be successful and gave up. But that was after they were hooked up with the game, and the thing that hooked them up in the first place was still the same. And there are not many people who genuinely don'by Murphy - Main Board
In a mud where I was playing eight years ago, there was a saying "You play first hour to learn how to play... and all the following time you play because you want revenge". CF is like that for me, too. The fun of the game itself is not enough to hold me, but I won't leave because I want to eventually show everyone that I, too, can rip them apart in 2-3 rounds. In short, you getby Murphy - Main Board
My current char had some interaction with Dymon, and it totally did appear like he was only paying attention to himself. But I always thought it was part of the pirate RP, very fitting.by Murphy - Char Board
Just tell them you now have different name, what's the problem?by Murphy - Main Board
Maybe his RP was crude, I dunno. But he was funny and people talked about him everywhere, he certainly made a presence in the world.by Murphy - Char Board
It is not only a big time sink. It also demands that you devote big chunks of uninterrupted time to it. Like, if you want to go have a lunch, or take out the trash, answer a phone call or a person knocking on your door, heck, even take a dump - you have to leave your character completely vulnerable for that amount of time. And suppose you are fighting right at the time when you need to go AFKby Murphy - Main Board
I don't really understand what to laugh at about it. Good thing I loathe mages and never wanted to play one anyway. Except perhaps an A-P, but this can wait.by Murphy - Main Board
If everyone is only assassinated once or twice in a lifetime, where do the awesome vets get their 40 successes to perfect the skill? Is CF's playerbase really that big?by Murphy - Main Board
Hmmm, I was certain that scatter didn't help. Maybe I just had it fail because of low percentage. So if vanish helps, it probably means that entwining an assassin won't help hold him, barring times when you can't vanish of course. Lashing is probably an option then, for a flail warrior.by Murphy - Main Board
That's why I'm being curious in the first place. Do all these people enjoy being paranoid all the time? And if they aren't paranoid, why so few assassinations?by Murphy - Main Board
I was thinking flail warrior (is there even a way to escape entwine?), some medium-sized race. As I don't play giants, greeting is of no use. Also if I take greeting, the assassin will be less likely to fail in the first place. Also, shadows helps against other things I dislike (blackjack etc).by Murphy - Main Board
There are only so many deaths you can withstand. How about you being in a cabal and an enemy assassin stalking you repeatedly?by Murphy - Main Board
If avoiding assassins was easy, no one would have mastered assassinate, ever. What I meant, however, is not that I can't always take basic precautions. Meant that I just can't understand how people play without detect hidden and still enjoy the game. I like to take my time, hate being constantly on the move. Don't want to develop some twitch IRL, y'know. Maybe I should jusby Murphy - Main Board
I just can't understand how people live without detect hidden. Yes, now I have played all three hidden classes and found that they are mostly bad against warriors. A ranger can only really harm you in the wilderness, so you don't have to be careful about them all the time. Thieves can do nasty things like blackjack and steal all your stuff, but you are probably still going to survive.by Murphy - Main Board
I experienced it likewise in other MUDs. You won't believe how crazy the diku/rom codebase is. Easier to rewrite from scratch than to fix all bugs.by Murphy - Log Board
QuotethinhallenI've always thought that randomly new players to CF probably have a 2 to 5% chance of staying whereas people brought in through friends who are able to level with them and learn the ropes probably have a 30 to 40% chance of sticking around. Games are just incredibly more fun when you have your friends with you and I wish the Imms would say that it's completely alright toby Murphy - Main Board
But I still don't think that muds, let alone CF, are dying. There wouldn't be an iPhone mud client otherwise. I mean, if newer gadgets support playing muds, that means something!by Murphy - Main Board
I wonder how many newbies roll their first char as evil and actually learn something with it. This game is overwhelming. Seems I was lucky with Gaerad, even though I didn't like the character right from the start.by Murphy - Char Board
