Ok, first, I want to point out the obvious pro's and con's of Divine classes. Pro : Con : *************************************************************************************************************************************************** My point is that it seems that most Divine classes are type-casted to a Cabal Imperial Shaman has double the ability to cast, also black shroud. Now then, let's take an A-P vs. a Paladin, I will make this in the form of a log... whe c summon lance-who? Lance-who? suddenly arrives! c sleep lance-who? c **And now for the kicker** c worldbind lance-who? **And now for the only tactic the Anti-Paladin cannot counter!!!** The Animation leaves Lance-who's? body. grum You grumble distractedly to yourself. ******************************************************************************************************* Well, hopefully everyone can see my meaning here.
-Can only have things dispelled via another divine class...
-Spellbane does not work against them (Not sure, but think so)
-Effects are often quite powerful...
-Can't be tigerclawed/totally screwed over like us mages...*grumbles*
-I'm sure there is more, but moving on....
-Almost everything has a 2-round lag
-Usually pretty dull...I mean come on, what does a shaman do at hero? Sits
Summon, blind, fatigue, fatigue, if they are feeling zealous, maybe they could have time for more, or
or maybe get off that iffy rot or wither. This is opposed to an invoker having a plethora of ways to...handle*grins* a problem.
-Worldbind...need I say more?
-Elf's can't be shamans, yet they can be battleragers....hmmmm, my only thought on why they aren't allowed to be shamans would be because
Elven society is a bit more civilized, yet we have them running around slaughtering Elf mages and speaking in "Me hate f***ing mage!!" dialects...
hmmmm, slight incongruity there...
-If you don't have cabal powers to back you up (Black channels, etc...) some types of divines are made worthless (Fire shaman, Duerg shaman)
- Druid's can't become undetected (Camo, which they REALLY should have) until very high level, and even then, they don't heal while in tree-form.
-Paladins have lots of problems, which have been discussed earlier...
and, in fact, without belonging to a certain cabal, some just suck S**t through a tube.
Examples, Fire shaman(Not Imperial) would get his ass handed to him by a fire shaman(Imperial)
Same for Duergars.
On the other hand...Paladins _DID_ have 'their' place once as Knights, but, we all know where that went.
So, here is the situation, for example, on a Paladin vs. an Imperial shaman
Paladins' Wrath will be somewhat lessened by black shroud, Paladin cannot excape rot
Shield bash will not effect the shaman, all in all, it is a nasty situation in which the Paladin is screwed in the end.
Players near you:
(PK)Anti-Paladin Caravan Road
(PK) Lance-who? Caravan Road
Lance-who? yells 'Die, Anti-Paladin, you Sorcerous Dog!'
Lance-who? goes to sleep
Lance-who? screams in agony as plague sores erupt from his skin!
Lance-who? looks very ill.
Lance-who? can no longer find the strength to wield 'Sorry-ass sword that can't compare to a Unholy weapon'.
Lance-who? looks very uncomfortable.
Lance-who? looks blinded.
I am tired, so it might be rather juvenile, but try to look
at the bigger issue here.
Perhaps Divine classes should be given more 'skills' and less communes, they are
after all imbued with the power of a God or Goddess, so perhaps they shouldn't have to 'call the god for help' (Commune)
That seems rather counter-productive when you consider that they were already _empowered_
but, oh well, just some thoughts...
