You've made an excellent side point there. I think something like the Lyceum is a welcome addition to Thera, and should probably be mimicked to a lesser degree in each of the major cities, or in private libraries. There's nothing to say there can't be different schools of thought regarding (in this case) hermetic physics. Picture this: MasterLeader - Why do you feel it is necessary for us to battle against Nature and its forces? ApplicantX - Well, I'm a student of the Aldorian school of thought. Magic and Nature are the two forces that shape the world, but there is no need for them to shape it in an equitable manner. Nature breeds decay, unpredictability, it follows the whims of an idle-minded Force. Magic, however, gives us the ability to shape the world as we see fit, to defy these forces. MasterLeader - But are we not creatures of Nature ourselves? Without Nature we would have never have been born. Magic can only create that which is mindless... the golem... the zombie... etc. Let's say ApplicantX read that theory in the White Tower's private library, and has adopted it as a truth that she holds dear. Maybe MasterLeader has read an opposing theory in the library in Galadon and believes Aldor was full of shit. It would take a while to build up a reference library of this material, but over time it could certainly be done, especially if they were Cliff's Notes versions, mainly written by mortals.
: the Imms in general came out with explanations for some things to more fully develop the background/workings of the "world", then serafim could expect his applicants to at least try to find out what the "answers" are.
