> I hear people complain about scourge a bit too much and rightly so..to an extent. Lets see if we can counteract some of that. I think the abilities of the masters as well as the battle ragers are specificly made to kick the other in the nuts..plain and simple. That is the 2 cabals goals isnt it?

> Scourge:
> Masters is a cabal that was in its creation to have only one enemy...ragers. What are ragers? Strong warriors, the best in Thera (in theory). So lets look at Scourge's affects. And compare them to ragers and the ultimate goal.
Yah true, i agree with you.

> Ragers are often a bit more numerous then masters as Masters tends to go for more premier players/roleplayers. Therefore an area affect spell is a bonus. Ragers are strong warriors with untill recently no way to cure blindness, and few ways to cure poison (changed now). Scourge brings those warriors down a notch, weakens their muscles, poisons them, and blinds them. Taking away their advantage, or some of it.
True, but you must realize the masters make up their lack of numbers by having alot of allies.
Dawn, Empire, ex arbiters, bored hero mages, people like Palan.. etc.. etc..
The Masters always never dies, because they word or teleport, while ragers die left and right. Even if ragers have the numbers, they die left and right, so the numbers equal out.

> Spellbane:
> What are masters? Mages with weak health, not all of them having offensve spells. But having the advantage of spells none the less. So lets look at Spellbane, argueably a ragers best ability, as with scourge of masters. I mean think of it, how many of you non ragers would give your left walnut to be able to bounce a spell back at someone for damage?? Especially if the majority of your enemies were mages. Not to mention the fact that berserkers get an area afect spellbane when thirsting, also haste i might add. So this in turn evens the playing field a bit in the favor of the ragers.
I think you give too much credit to spell bane.
Lets examine part of Nesam's raid.

Dalithics turns slightly green, but it passes.
You failed to blind Dalithics.
Your magic failed to weaken Dalithics.
Your Scourge of the Violet Spider EVISCERATES Dalithics!
Kitratik turns slightly green, but it passes.
You failed to blind Kitratik.
Your magic failed to weaken Kitratik.
Your Scourge of the Violet Spider devastates Kitratik!
Nesam can no longer find the strength to wield a spear named 'Impaler of Magic'.
Nesam looks very ill.
You failed to blind Nesam.
Your magic failed to weaken Nesam.
Your Scourge of the Violet Spider decimates Nesam!
Nesam shivers and suffers.
Nesam's poison injures him.

Another Scourge spammed right after another

Kitratik turns slightly green, but it passes.
You failed to blind Kitratik.
Your magic failed to weaken Kitratik.
Your Scourge of the Violet Spider mauls Kitratik.
Nesam deflects your spell!
Nesam's spellbane devastates you!
Nesam delivers a blow of deadly force!
You parry Nesam's claw.
Dalithics is already poisoned.
Dalithics is already blind.
Dalithics can no longer find the strength to wield a heavy mace.
Dalithics looks tired and weak.
Your Scourge of the Violet Spider injures Dalithics.

In these two rounds, only one spell baned occurred.
I personally did not think spell bane is as dreadful as many thinks, it is not an offensive skill, why fear it.
Scourge on the other hand is offensive, 1 Master using one single spell to weaken 3 Ragers.
Area spell goes through spell bane too often.
The risks outweights the gains.
The log proves it, one area spell can fuck up 3 ragers.

Next Low Health, they can fix that easy.
taken from the log too.

Spell: 'barrier' modifies armor class by -80 for 7 hours.
Spell: 'shield' modifies armor class by -30 for 11 hours
Spell: 'aura' modifies armor class by -30 for 13 hours.
Spell: 'armor' modifies armor class by -20 for 10 hours.
Spell: 'stone skin' modifies armor class by -40 for 6 hours.
Spell: 'transform' modifies none by 0 for 25 hours.
Spell: 'transform' modifies damage modifier by -10 for 25 hours.
Spell: 'transform' modifies hp by 796 for 25 hours.

That is 200 AC from spells.
A Mage should have 150-250 armor from gear, and Ismail had all mage armor.
Low HP? Transform doubles their hit points.

What does this all add up to, balance? maybe.
Ragers
DeathBlow/Blood thist - counter by all that AC and Transformation
Spellbane/resistance - added protection since ragers cant use spells
field bandages/poultice - sure they can heal. but no really that great compare to the real healers. (i rather go to a healer and spam heal heal, pzar, pzar...)
When i was in battle, there was few Defenders. And i surely do not have enough mana (unlike mages )to heal the whole village.

Enough said.

>
> I am taking these 2 abilities into acount because they are the most often bitched about and they most often pointed at for being "overpowered". Its bullshit...both cabals are relatively balanced with fluctuations. Each cabal's powers are specificly based to swat the other...
> The reason people complain about ragers being overpowered is because they are strong at the moment and for some reason they feel that they no longer need only the masters as enemies but they want to take on the whole world.

> I guess by speaking on these 2 skills I am saying that people on CF have become ENTIRELY too obsessed with screaming like little girls anytime any new skill/spell/power/wand/form/character seems to get a bit more use then the rest for some reason because it must be overpowered and its a conspiracy that goes straight to the White House. People, **shakes you to your sences** ITS A GAME...You say how you want it to be realistic yet you want everything fair..ok.

> Heres realism coupled with fair: Iraq does not (in theory) have nuclear weapons. In all fairness because we have enough to blow up the world 4 times over..shouldnt they? But then uzbeckastan wants em too...and Lichenstein, And now we all have to have our nuclear weapons because if we dont its not fair. And the U.S. is "overpowered". That is untill Iraq finds some barrier rods or whatever to make it even again. or gets a power revamp etc.

> People let it go...I used to be the biggest supporter of the Forum/Pk list. Then I look at my memories of mudding 3 years ago...all the joy i had is gone, I have become bloodthirsty. And so have you all. Its driven me off to another mud, oh yeah i still play cf from time to time but I try to stay away from here. You should to...its evil i tell ya. hehe.

> My thoughts I dont care for anyone who wants to pick apart anything I said...its just thoughts. Again...these thoughts are totally part of the conspiracy.
