I think part of your reason might be right here: You haven't played him much recently. Now that Empire has new leadership and is getting smacked around a bit less, you came back. I'm not accusing you of anything, I'm simply laying out facts. Whether these were your reasons or not isn't really my point, my point is the appearance of it.

Um...roleplaying standpoint...omniscient (or at the very least semi-omniscient) god. What part of this is hard to understand?

Sorry, but you wanted to know FROM A ROLEPLAYING STANDPOINT how he would know. The roleplaying standpoint is "immortals know everything" (or at least a lot more than you think).
I think you probably wouldn't have been anathed if not for the first part, where you aren't around much anyways...the Immortal probably wanted to make an example and picked out the crappiest guy on at the time and did so.
