I think he's talking about charge set being able to deflect an ambush. I mean seriously, if you're ambushing someone, you're not going to run up and impale yourself on their polearm when they can't even see you. Thats my biggest gripe about charge set, especially being a ranger. If you're going up against a polearm spec, you can pretty much forget about having the upper hand.
