I will tell you that Imbrogno is an incredibly complex character, but he's also very straight forward in his desires. His role could just as easily be applied to a neutral, and maybe even an evil, but I thought his story was most interesting were it applied to a storm giant.
Basically the world is in black and white for him. There's chaos and there's order, and good and evil are in the periphery. His chosen religion is a neutral one. He's not a paladin, or a maran, or a dawnie so placing lightwalkers in danger is not in the forefront of his mind(he does it every time he calls special guards), but he is troubled by needless deaths which are most often the result of chaos.
You either help him bring order to the land or you're in the way, and just simply being dedicated to order is not enough for him. He hates Imperials probably more than anybody since they've begun hanging out with ragers who to him are a cesspool of chaos led by somebody who he hates more than anything(ask in the game why). Beyond that, he's had many a verbal altercations with chaotic lightwalkers(most notably Chaldaie who he won't even talk to anymore) and would probably attack(probably not kill though) them if provoked beyond his limit.
He did summon Aragorn away from the village after he was done, though seeing Aragorn die would not have been a life changing event. He'll force the role of maintaining order on anybody he comes across and will hate anybody who doesn't accept it willingly.
Not every lightwalker needs to by into the "one big happy family" theme that many accept. Does Imbrogno toe the alignment line? Most emphatically yes, but it's in his ROLE to do so and he's not going to stop because one lightwalker gets a bruise.
