In Reply to: Heh, not sure why he started with an assassinate?..I'm sure your 1800 hps prolly had something to do with it. (n/t) posted by Greengiant on July 17, 2000 at 13:40:41:
If the poster is right, and the assassin had little or no time to stalk, then assassinate is just going to miss.
Strangle, while somewhat unreliable, is nice when is works. Blind, poison, then wake them with a tiger claw, which is more likely to work on a sleeping target. It's also going to let you let him stew for a couple ticks, while his affects wear down.
If the tiger claw lands, he's going to shift right away. Then, go for the big lagging kicks, to keep the rakes away, and hope you can last long enough.
Also, trannies will parry staves better than spears. You're not going to get too many rounds in before he shifts, but you can really pile up the damage during that time. (The assassin switched weapons during the break provided by the flee, so maybe this is what he was doing.)
Unless Juxposona is a gnome, of course. Then, blunt instruments are the weapon of choice.
In any case, it's hardly a hopeless battle. Felar assassins are tough at any rank.
