That was the incident that best demonstrated the difference between "player knowledge" and "character knowledge" to me since I started on CF. As a player, I largely agreed with your argument. You presented it quite well. (Note to self: Try to avoid debating Order with long-time Arbiter IMMs.) But there was no way in the Father's Nine Hells that Ingvar wasn't going to snarl and bare his philosophical teeth. =) Grr!

(Aside about the story: It's the only character development I ever did at work. I was using a laser to selectively destroy portions of a biological sample, and all of the sudden, something clicked about Ingvar and his talk with Shinkoujinei about stonecutter's tools. (I was also reading Richard Dawkins' The Blind Watchmaker at the time, which really shows up in that second paragraph.) I put my experiment on standby and banged out a nearly final draft in about fifteen minutes. Fastest thing I ever wrote!)
