Famish has its uses. It may not be the best for most situations, but think of times when your target is going to be resistant to poison/disease. Times like this are where I would start with a famish.

Besides, if I'm not mistaken, the -str effects of famish last a few ticks even if you eat. Poison/plague can be gotten rid of just just by eating a very common pill which any level 1 can buy.
