Didn't know about the area spells being harder to bane than direct spells, but I suppose it makes sense. As for prepping, I signed in and he was on the 3rd level of the Tower... I spelled up and hoped for the best. Those 3 db's at the end got me before I could flee. And cone does a fair bit more lag... usually iceshards hits a lot harder than cone (in my exp) because you can get 4 Oblits... that sort of thing. Didn't work out too well though.
