1. Try not to let him get first strike (said before but it's important that you com curse/murder/whatever so he can't sleep you). You didn't make any initiating commands, at all.

2. Don't taunt. It's MUCH easier to play when the bad guys underestimate you or just plain forget about you. Fly under the radar until you're ready, hit them, and then go back under the radar :) You know you've done a good job when *they* taunt *you* after you've killed them. I think that's the only way to play a Maran (you have tough opposition and no cabal crutches).
