Exactly what I was going to say when I read Thormakar's post. (Or much of his previous stuff... do a search.) Well put. Thormakar is usually good for yelling "Ask in game, you idiot" when some newbie posts a simple question. When he does decide to post, it's clear he knows the game well, but it's also clear that he thinks the vast majority of the playerbase is composed of idiots who will never reach his lofty level of skill. He's an inconsistent roleplayer at best, based on the one character I know he played, and I don't think he cares. I'm sure he could PK me in a heartbeat, though. My plan is to keep calling him on it, and answer the newbie questions when I see 'em. I like seeing some one exclaim "Ask in the damn game!" after someone asks something reasonable, and the next post gives the answer. Even if they ask for something inappropriate (quests, etc.), you can usually point them in the right direction while you let them know no one is going to tell them that. Go newbies! (And don't think I don't know who posted this from the author's nickname!) > There's something I fear many people currently playing seem to miss completely. Being a worthy player DOES NOT mean knowing one's way to Arkham, or knowing where all wands are, or knowing things about CF that only one who has played CF extensively would know. What makes a good player? Oh, I don't know...role playing? Believability in the character? A bit of motivation and excitement about his new character who just might have had his first shot into Masters? > There's nothing I hate worse than some idiot transmuter hero, that I've NEVER heard of or met, telling me, "He, truck's shit is in, help me get it?" > For the love of God, why don't you elitists sit down and think for a moment. This game is not about knowing where everything is at, it's about the willingness to learn. The questions here, perhaps, is, who would you rather walk with...the master who ask his 'friends' where something is, or those who snicker at him behind his back for being 'stupid'?
> I remember once reading a post about Twist, from Twist. He mentioned that as his character Twist, he couldn't find his way from Galadon to New Thalos, but slugged his way through and made the best of it, and tried to roleplay.
