There is no rule against getting ripped off. If you make a deal, then hand your equipment over, and the other guy leaves with your stuff...well...you handed it to him. Chalk it up to experience, cause we can't do a thing.

Now if they actually took it off your person without asking, that's theft. Running off without finishing a trade? That's just dishonorable.
