I agree with Amergin, I think insect swarn should only be useable in forest/wilderness type areas. Two levels to this: ic: the warder is trying to literally call a *swarm* of insects from the surrounding area. You see alot of swarms hanging around main highways? On big city streets? Not likely. YOu see them in forests, in pastures maybe, in wilderness. So from an ic standpoint, they also should be limited. Mark > > Well, you never had much problem escaping from *anything* :P > > Seriously, though, I could be talking out of ignorance, because I haven't fought a Warder except for one recently that I didn't want to fight for RP reasons, so my perspective could be really skewed from having *used* insect swarm and not having *fought* against it, *but* > > I can think of alot of battles where I won *only* because I insected (there would have been no other way to keep them from just wording or teleporting, or whatever). In my mind, it's a huge power. And chamo, is also a huge power. And wall? Well, huge power. It seems to me that, from using insect swarm so much, it could be restricted in some way, perhaps by allowing people to still quaff potions, or make insect only usable in forests, etc. I mean, I'd hate that to happen if I was playing a Warder right now, but it seems more balanced that way. > >
ooc: Insect is very powerful. Yes, you can still walk/run/swim. But come on, that's not something to speak of. And just because a warrior doesn't have the spell 'word of recall" in his skillset, doesn't mean he can't use potions, or be recalled by someone else, etc. Not being able to recall or teleport or magically get away at all is *serious* power. What's more, you can't sleep and regen yuour moves/hp/mana while insected. (At leas you couldn't as recently as two months ago. If that changed, so be it.) So even if you do manage to walk away, you can't get very far. And lets not forget insect inconjunction with wall of thorns. Since you can't word during combat because of insect, you *have* to try to flee, and get away by foot. But the wall doesn't let you. It hurts you. So, insect swarm is very powerful. It's a damage on the tick, like crimson sccouge. It doesn't let you get away. It doesn'tlet you sleep. That's a big, big power.
And hell, I think warders should be spending most of their time in such wilderness type places anyway, so the power should reflect that. There's no way the should be able to insect anywhere at all on the imperial lands, or in the palace, or in the master tower, or the arbiter hall, etc. Those places represent civilization, in one way or another, and are just not anyplace a swarm of biting/stinging bugs would be hanging around.
