I did mine in third person mainly because it's easier for me to write like that. I'm sure others do theirs in first person, keeping a running tab on events as they encounter them. I'm not going to do that, instead updating mine every so many ranks to keep track of personality/belief changes as well as status in my chosen religion, cabal, race, etc. When you have a game that is played by people of many many many different racial/ethnic/language backgrounds you can't be too incredibly picky about what people put in their role/desc etc(ie you can't be picky about grammar when some people don't speak english as their first language). I've always written backstories and so forth for my characters in MicroSoft Word, so all I'm going to do is, starting at level one, write my backstory in with the role command and then tack on paragraphs every tenth rank or so.
