They have no well defined role.
Are they:
1) The best fighters in Thera?
This would support the pride of not gang-banging, and justify deathblow, bloodthirst.
2) Mage haters/killers
This would justify spellbane, truesight.
3) Whatever would justify their heal/cure skills (*boggle*) and resist.

They seem to be many things all roled up into one: Best mage hating/killing fighter/healers in all of Thera. Give me a break.
