Ok, as far as keeping a person in a fight, lash and bearcharge. That's it. Lash works like crap, most conjurers will attest to that. Bearcharge, again, protective shield defeats that skill. Yes, it does do damage (evis/dismemb) but it doesn't always lag for long. I've seen it work for one round and up to three.

Snare, as soon as they are attacked, they can get out. And what kind of ranger walks around with staves worth using a pk? Besides, you use them, invokes the snared person to attack, then they get to flee and run. Beyond that, there's a 15-20 hour lag between snares. So, if one fails, it's going to be a while before you can put up another one. And they don't work always, mine work approx. 60-75% of the time against a hero's pk range.

Camo: Yes a whole race can see that SOMEONE is there, but not who. It's not true loss, but it does hurt a bit. Again, this brings up my other rant about lich and the damn phylacteries. Anyway, the lag is reasonable... not terribly long, but it does take a few seconds. I've never noticed it going up or down due to proficiency or rank. It is the mainstay of a ranger... it is where his life begins....

Camp: Love it... although, not everywhere you can camo, you can camp. Must be a true forest, not just a silly field.

Ranger staff needs to be put back to an exotic. Preferably one you can serpent strike with, making it a staff really makes it useless for 4 of the 5 classes that can be rangers.

Serpent strike= jab with swords. Works about every round.... and is dam/weapon dependant. No whips, staffs. And with my Mondurian, dam around 45 I can hit demolishes with it. Works about 60-75% of the time.

Ambush- Yes, it is nice. But it can't be compared to backstab. Thieves get an additional stab at 30. Rangers can ambush someone that is hurt. I regularly do Annih with the aboved mention dam/weapon. A few eradicates and oblits. A thief with a 45 dam roll and avg 28 weapon would be doing erad and up on a regular basis. (And yes, I have played theives before.) But against MOBS. Players, an unshielded drow hero invoker, a demolish. Wielding primary mondurian, secondary mithril axe avg 24. Not very good.

As for spells, call lightning against an arial could do dem/dev when unprepared or sleeping. Entangle at hero level does mangles and down. I listed above in another post about new skills/spells ideas. More or less vague, but basic ideas to be expanded upon.

It made me chuckle, but the post way back was right. Rangers don't need a makeover, they need something more substantial. I'll entertain any responses the best I can.
