Wanted to post this as a new thread so it woulden't get lost, my original message and replies are about 10 from the top.

My reply to you came from Sinakil, kudos to you. These were my exact ideas, including f a large area of eternal night, linked underground to other areas, imagine the glee of goodies to grab a healer and some paladins to go to the Vampire Lands on a PK fest, these classes really need something to do.

Of course, I think the idea of instant inceneration is a little much, only because night and day passes too quickly in real time, and it would be too hard to get out of the sun. If the times of day would pass normally, or even at half time, i.e. 6 real hours of darkness followed by 6 of daylight, I would consider that possibility.

In the alternative (can you tell I'm a lawyer) I would suggest minus strength, dex hit and damage, I'm talking 2 to 4 points each, during the daylight hours.

Sunray, disruption and turn undead would, of course, probably ===OBLITERATE=== every hit, no problem on this, because these spells are over 30 rank, where people have hopefully gained some common sense. They would have the same vulnerabilities as duergar, this is of course if they were a race which could be created on startup.

The other resistences have already been 80% coded by Scarabaeus with the Lich race, undead are undead.

If they are a quest race, and I love the idea of a Vamp God "inducting", then vulnerabilities would diminish, and powers, max stats, etc. would increase as the character aged through the centuries. Meaning guys like Zorzsaul would be even more ugly :(

On the other hand, I'm getting further and further away from the idea of sucking anyone off to get powers (some Imms are getting unreasonable, you know who you are), I think this is a necessary evil to keep poor players out.

How this could be RP'd in, there are many ways, and too many to be listed here. But I would suggest a few short ones.

1) Plague of vampires brought on Thera by the Gods?
2) Unleashed by some rift created to the negative plane (probably some f*cking Master *wink*)
3) A war against the living of Thera caused by an immortal fight?
4) Hell, how bout they just decided to stop lurking in the shadows?

Yes, I agree, I don't want a hundred pkr's running around with vampires slaughtering everything, the characters should be held by strong roleplayers, that's probably why Liches are a quest race. Woulden't it boost roleplaying to have guys kicking ass with these things, like the Liches do, and having other players saying, maybe if I try roleplaying instead of joining Empire, I may get good enough to earn one of these. How many Liches are out there now two? Two Vampires would be enough in my opinion as well.

I imagine the development of the drow-like war between clans or houses of undead, of course this would entail the creation of many vampire characters, something which I am against because of the potential for abuse.

Anyways, I submit that the integration of this race in some manner would, at the very least, give good characters of all ranks, something fruitful to do with their lives. The strengths are easily managed by the vulnerabilities.

I admit, I play a necro who is getting up there, and I would love to take that 51st rank Vampire Lord spot, but I think that someone with good coding experience would need to take the helm in order to truly develop the race and the areas.

P.S. I don't play masquerade, I don't dress in black, dye my hair, wear purple poet's shirts or drink blood; just a fan of the genre, and a long time player of CF.
