You're right, it is. But nowhere in my contract does it say that if I play an arbiter I have any more right to destroy someone else's fun than any other player. The players that choose to join the arbiter cabal are doing more than making a choice for their character... they're changing the way they'll be playing CF. An arbiter isn't the same as another type of character - it's there to serve and protect (wow, that sounds familiar) the common citizens. Read: Your job is to be right about things.
> If you do not like it, don't play.
Please, please, please, stop using this kind of argument. I hate people that say this sort of thing. CF is here for us all to enjoy, and it isn't your place to drive others away.
> Sure your opinion is welcome, as is anyone elses who wishes to post on the forum. However, you do not reflect the desires of the Carrionfields populace as a whole, so more than likely your bitching gets you nowhere and annoys the hell out of people who put their time into their characters.
Well, you're wrong there. I'd imagine the majority of the CF populace is against the Arbiter cabal on a semi-regular basis whether that puts them on Graham's side or not. I'm not saying I necessarily agree with the anti-Arbiter philosophy, but it exists - don't try to ignore or deny it.
> Often we find our characters flamed out because they do not comply with your personal desires. Guess what bucko, in the scheme of things no one gives a shit about you. I'm sorry, it's the same case for me as well, but I can accept it and make do with what difference I can make.
Are you living in some drug induced hazy pink-and-orange flower-and-bunny filled happyland? For heaven's sake, man, you've just stated that none of us matter to any of the rest of us, so we shouldn't bother flaming each other. That's some of the worst logic I've ever heard. Not only are you *reading* and *caring about* other people's flames, you're *replying* to them as if you think you can make a difference.
> Now, if you have the balls for it, roll up your own lawful and make the arbiters what you think they should be, since they aren't leaving anytime soon. Think you can do that? Perhaps you have had an arbiter in the past? It makes no difference if you were or not, obviously you didn't leave much of a mark.
I've had an arbiter. Doubt you've heard of him, though.
> I play CF for the enjoyment I get, no to compete with some little boy who can't find resolution to his inferiority complex and so finds the desire to bash other people in an IRC chat so that people don't laugh at him for his weaknesses.
Ye gods... you're playing Mr. Cool with Graham, but you're far whinier than I've ever known him to be. You're here to play CF for the enjoyment you get? As an Arbiter? That's fine, but I don't think you have what it takes. A special breed of player is required for arbiters, and it's not somebody who enjoys the more "typical" aspects of CF. As I said before, you're no longer just playing a character... You have a JOB to be doing, and not just an IC job. You have a responsibility to be right about things at least 90% of the time. So learn how to do that, and stop making excuses, or you'll never see an end to the flames.
> Do not jump on their ass and bitch and moan, it only serves to irritate them. If you have a question, ask them kindly, wait for a response, if you do not get one, speak with another Arbiter.
I absolutely must reply to this, because it's downright wrong. You have a problem? You're not being heard? You were just killed in town with eight witnesses? Scream! Yell! Find an arbiter and start swearing at him! Wake up, Etherian, Arbiters are supposed to deal with that sort of thing. When you've got nine people sending you tells at once, you have to be able to sort through them and handle everybody at once... calmly, effectively, quickly, and correctly. You spaz out, get angry, snap back at people - as a PALADIN arb, no less - then you're obviously not the right type for the job. As I've said... it takes a special breed.
> If that doesn't work, talk to an Arbiter Imm. Astein and jaldean are both on more often than not, and I'm sure they are willing to help you.
Wrong again. Arbiter imms aren't there to handle mortal crimes and criminals, nor will they. That's your job.
> The job isn't easy, especially with the occaisinal asshole flaming Arbiters for this or that.
No kidding it's not easy, but it has nothing to do with flaming assholes like me. You've got enough shit to deal with in the game - focus on that. Stop coming to this forum. That's my advice for you.
> The arbiters are humans, they will make mistakes. Obviously humans make mistakes, else we would have never witnessed the post I feel inclined to respond to. I give every arbiter credit because they have put themselves on stage in front of everyone for better or worse, and even behind a character it isn't always an easy thing to do. If you really have that much of a problem with being flagged, don't break the laws.
First of all, it sounds to me as though Graham's angry with the arbiters' incompetence - not just with being flagged. I haven't witnessed any of it myself (aside from the arbiter-flagging-arbiter debacle on the log board), so I can't comment aside from saying that I'd be angry too if I had to deal with an incompetent arbiter. It takes a special breed. One quality of that breed is certainly competence.
> My apologies for being harsh, I know the truth hurts:
Heh.
> Etherian the Lawman of Galadon.
Branch out. There are other protected areas.
> PS- I do not plan on reading any responses to this, I'm bored with your redundant flames. Have a nice day.
Your loss. I have advice for you.
#1 - Stop coming to the forum.
#2 - Train your applicants more rigorously so you don't have to deal with complaints about morons.
#3 - Learn the laws inside and out, rightside up and upside down, know every word of every line, and familiarize yourself with case histories and precedents that have been set... if you know, for example, that Imperial A was flagged for doing something a year ago, and nothing significant has changed since then, you've just had all the hard work done for you.
I guess that last one comes from being an arbiter for a long, long time. That's called experience. Which will come. I'll give you time, but for now ... understand that maybe you aren't a very good arbiter, and focus on becoming one rather than defending yourself here. I know the Arbiter imms would welcome that attempt and reward you for it. They certainly did for me.
