Etherian, I'll give you some advice and if you heed it or not is up to you. This is in no way meant to be critical of you or your player. When I became an Arbiter Bastian warned me that one mistaken flag is all it could take to be thrown out. Since I didn't want that to happen, my first week I would spend my first hour of logging on reading the books and the pillar over and over. Before I would log out I would gate to Udgaard and go in the cabal and read the books and pillar one last time. If I wasn't 98% sure, 98% is what Bastian expected from us, then I would not place the flag, I would research the books and the pillar and try to find the answers there. If after all your investigating you are not 98% sure, don't place the flag. Like Bastian said, if they are guilty, they will break the law again and then we can catch them. After my first week I would still read the books and pillar upon logging on and again before logging off. If you want the Arbiters to be respected it will take for you and the other 3 lords to post a note to the other arbiters telling them to read the books and pillar at least once a day. And make sure they know that they are not to flag other Arbiters. This kind of thing happened when I was an arbiter. One arbiter was practicing faerie fog and someone had told him if he used a players name after it, it would work more often. Well he mistyped and wound up casting faerie fire on the player. Another arbiter flagged him and I took the flag off and sent a note to Bria explaining it all. Know your laws and rules to a T and you will get the respect you wish you had right now. People will still whine, complain, and lie to you, but at least you will be certain that you were in the right and the majority of Thera will respect you for being right all the time.
