In Reply to: What classes are not allowed in Sylvan and why? Is it the only Cabal that puts restrictions...besides obvious ones like mages in Battle. posted by Juast wondering on March 20, 2000 at 12:56:18:
No evil, so necro and a-p are out(but a-p's have been known to go neut, so that is an iffy)
and you have to be able to protect the wilderness, invoker(shields),Muter(haste, armor),healer, ranger(herbs),Druid(plant, etc.)
now, sylvan is the only cabal that makes exceptions the status quo.
Why? because the sylvan imms are more lax?
No.
Because sylvan powers are so great, that everyone in their uncle wants a ***insert class not allowed in sylvan*** that can chamo, wall, beast, insect.
This has lead to a sleu of shaman and warriors, even an assassin.
Am I downgrading their rp? no.
I just think there is a little difference between a player who will rp well and quest for sylvan pk powers...and a player who will rp beyond measure as a duergar to become good, then join knights, losing his warrior specs along the way.
One is Rp for rp's sake....and (while I can not judge) the other is most likely rp for pk's sake.
Does that say one rp is "better" than the other? no.
So you have two paths you can go.
roll any char you want, and rp him very good, and nomatter what you are, you can join sylvan.
or, roll one of the ones that are "acceptable"(wich are really actually in the minority in sylvan....if not in number, then in play time)
