I don't think the problem with bards is, that they are 'overpowered'. Ok, some of their songs may be a bit abusive on certain race/class combos, but in general their powers are pretty fine with me, but I see their strength as a reward for playing a class, that _should_ be the one class, that requires most roleplay to play.
But when I look at the bards in Thera, most are played like warriors with songs... And that sucks. So perhaps the immortals should make the more powerful songs restricted, and only hand them out to the players, who actually roleplay a bard.
I have personally never played a bard, not because I don't like the powers, but because I have a suspicion, that I would probably just end up like the rest of the warrior-bards.
