Mudding, or so-called "Mud Addiction" is not the problem. No, excessive mudding is generally indicative of other problems in one's life. It is a symptom of a problem, not the root problem.
Nor would "quitting" solve these problems. 99.9% of the time the person in question will simply find some other means of escaping from or avoiding the real problem.
No, don't blame the Mud for your real problems. To do so is pathetically weak.. you might as well blame the existence of fatty foods for your weight problem, or the existence of TV for the fact that you don't get any exercise, blaming a given Fantasy author for the fact that you can't stop reading his/her books, et cetera.
Mudding is not a chemical addiction. Any problem you have with it is yours and yours alone. Don't try and foist the blame off on the Immortals.
And as far as your assertion, the players do not "make" this mud nearly so much as the immortals do. Do players contribute something? Sure, they can. Immortals probably contribute about 1000 times as much, on their own, in their free time.
Lastly, I happen to have known Masta Girl.. and you're wrong if you think Masta Girl had problems caused by being "a mud addict". As I stated, excessive mudding is a symptom, not the problem.
