> Mudding, or so-called "Mud Addiction" is not the problem. No, excessive mudding is generally indicative of other problems in one's life. It is a symptom of a problem, not the root problem.
That is blatantly wrong for some cases i.e. mine. I'm not 'blaming' MUD's either. I take responsibility and naturally it was my decision to spent half my days on CF. The problems started arising due to my expensive time on CF, that is all.
> Nor would "quitting" solve these problems. 99.9% of the time the person in question will simply find some other means of escaping from or avoiding the real problem.
Quitting has done me a favor. Things are much less pear-shaped. You should try it sometime.
> And as far as your assertion, the players do not "make" this mud nearly so much as the immortals do. Do players contribute something? Sure, they can. Immortals probably contribute about 1000 times as much, on their own, in their free time.
The Immortals thoroughly enjoy what they do, just as the players do. I stand by the fact that the player base is on par with the immortals in making a MUD and everyone that plays 'contributes in their own free time'.
> Lastly, I happen to have known Masta Girl.. and you're wrong if you think Masta Girl had problems caused by being "a mud addict". As I stated, excessive mudding is a symptom, not the problem.
I never, ever implied that Masta Girl had a problem. Quite the contrary. Her posts a year and a half ago on Glimo's forum spelled out the reality of MUD's. You can deny that reality all you want, I fully understand your position...but it will always be there not matter how much you try to deny it.
