I'm inclined to agree. While I've never been assassinated, and really, there's no reason for anyone to be, with the POSSIBLE (really not, though) exception of necromancers. There are a few tricks to make it obvious, like teleporting often if possible. The rest are left to the reader, but by and large they're simple and commonsense.
Nonetheless, I think assassinate SHOULD have a lag on it. If there's a 5% chance for that to work, and a 0% danger to the assassin, why the hell WOULDN'T he just keep trying until it does? No loss on his part. I think assassination should be a gamble, not just a "if it works, yay, if not, van;quaff teleport, no danger" thing.
