"As for being a corrupt Arbiter...I honestly think if you could do it well enough and never be caught by mortal/immortals...and had it in your role, until something was obviously done, and you slipped up...you wouldn't be axed (but don't quote me on that...I don't deal with Arbies)"

It is impossible to do anything and not be caught by immortals. That is the essence of what we are talking about here. It's one thing to work your char and act in such a way as to fool the other mortals. It is impossible to fool immortals. Yes, some imms dont have snoop or other information, but all they need do is ask a higher imm and they can get pretty much whatever information about the character they need. You cannot act in such a way as to escape imm detection, at all. That's the first thing.

Next, I have to disagree with the statement below (I dont know if it was by shokai or zulgh) which said that when imms read a role that says there will be deception, etc, that the imms dont start watching even more. From personal experience I can tell you that when Gorgidas was sphere deception, the arbiter imms *did* in fact watch him closer, and use their imm abilities to "catch" him in the act, if they could, and were told to be more attuned to him. That is the problem, because it limits roleplaying. Seems to me that the player/character should be allowed to play the role in such a way that if they are caught by mortals, they pay the price. But if they aren't, then there not be some "resort to the imms" for catching/punishing, because after all it is the character roleplaying.

Lastly, in light of something shokai wrote above, let me say that these posts are by no means indicative of less respect or lack of gratitude for the imm work on the mud. I've said it before -- often -- but I suppose it bears repeated. We are all here in the first place due to the work the imm staff does. So thank you. Do not take an attempt at constructive criticism and opinion as personal detraction. Fuck, I am fully aware that 9/10ths of the imm staff dont like me, so rest assured I have no ulterior motive when I say this. I, and many others, appreciate the time and effort.

But it cannot, and should not, impede people from these sorts of discussions.
