Can he argue this angle/interpretation?
Sure. Just like any lawyer is free to argue
his interpretation of any law in the land.
And just like any judge is free to throw a
lawsuit out of court for being frivolous,
the Imms disregard interpretations like his
out of hand. Why? Because everybody *but*
this guy agrees that it means something
totally different.
Let's take an example. Murder is illegal.
Well, some Animal Rights people say that
"Meat is Murder".. so does this mean I'll
go to jail for eating a hamburger? Of course
not.
Could these laws be written more clearly?
Maybe. I don't think the Empire Imms are
professional lawyers, so they aren't going to
be able to recognize every tiny little loophole
that could possibly be interpreted. So
basically, you get decent laws that are for
the most part alright, and then you get them
with a certain interpretation that is presented
as fact. From that, you just deal with it.
In summary, it's pretty basic that Empire
can't just willy-nilly attack people in town,
regardless of who holds what cabal item.
Having played an Empire, I know what times
and situations it's alright to attack in town,
and which it isn't. Understanding Imperial
Law really isn't all that damn hard, just
when jerks like this guy try to weasel their
way into being able to do whatever they want,
and cry foul when somebody (Imm or not) calls
them on it, do we have problems.
End of Rant.
Sorry, RC, had to say it.
